Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of  Beyonce Knowles and the renowned rapper Jay Z is no doubt a young and talented girl.

There’s no denying that Blue Ivy is taking after her mama. At just eight years old, she’s already proven herself to be an absolute icon. Now, she’s won her very first NAACP Image Award.

Beyoncé took home six prizes at the NAACP Image Awards this weekend, and her 8-year-old daughter proved she’s every bit as talented as her mom. Having performed on the track “Brown Skin Girl” from album The Lion King: The Gift , Blue Ivy received the Outstanding Duo or Group award, along with Beyonce.

Blue Ivy’s grandma, Tina Knowles Lawson, celebrated the achievement in an Instagram post, writing: “… The youngest artist to win a major award Grandma is so proud of you 8 years old!!!! You are giving all the beautiful little brown girls a voice.”

The NAACP Image Award is an annual ceremony held on every February 22nd that is focuses on honoring outstanding representations and achievements of people of color in motion pictures, television, music, and literature.

This year it took place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and was lively broadcaster on BET. NAACP stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

For Blue Ivy, this was the second major award that she had won having won her first award in 2019. It comes after the youngster reached her first spot on the Billboard .

Blue accompanied her mom to the red carpet premiere of The Lion King back in July. Mrs. Carter voiced Nala in the live-action adaptation, which recently earned nominations at the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards and the Golden Globes.

A source previously told People: ‘It might seem like her career would take up all her time, but it’s quite the opposite. ‘Her career is always second and her kids are her first priority. She is a fantastic mom and very involved.’

Beyoncé was only eight years old when her first girl group Girl’s Tyme came together. And her daughter Blue Ivy Carter is on track to follow in mom’s legendary footsteps 30-years later.
