Nancy Njeri will remain in custody for 14 days while investigations proceed into the case involving a lawyer whose hands were cut with a machete.

Njeri was accused of cutting the hands of Advocate Onesmus Masaku at his house on 7 October 2020.

She was brought before the Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Ocharo in the Machakos Court on Friday and is currently stationed at the Makueni Police Station in Wote.

The lawyer was taken to Makueni Hospital. However, he was later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi where he is undergoing treatment.

The court was told that the life of the suspect was in danger because of angry residents after which it ordered the suspect to be held in custody at the Wote Police Station in Makueni while awaiting the end of the investigation.

The injured lawyer is being represented by more than ten lawyers, including Nelson Havi, the President of Law Society Of Kenya and his Deputy Caroline Kamende.
