The Senate has summoned cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi and Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai over the arrest of three senators.
Matiangi noted through an SMS he was on recess granted by president Uhuru Kenyatta and couldn’t appear.
This came after Senators Christopher Langat (Bomet), Ltumbesi Lelegwe (Samburu) and Cleophas Malala (Kakamega) were arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Their colleagues in the Senate blamed their woes on their strong stand against the government-backed revenue formula which was set for debate for the ninth sitting on Monday.
The three arrested senators were apprehended in the counties they represent as some of them have been released.
