The Deputy Governor Kisii County Joash Maangi, has been arrested on Monday morning February 15 2020 over claims that he is planning to cause chaos and disrupt the burial ceremony of the late Mzee Simeon Nyachae at Gusii stadium.
According to reports, the deputy governor was apprehended at Kisii high school grounds where he,alongside other politicians were allegedly awaiting the arrival of Deputy President William Ruto and other VIPs.
Sources close to the police have revealed Maangi and other MPs allied to DP Ruto had allegedly hired and ferried goons to the stadium to heckle part of the leaders.
He is currently held at an unknown location. This incident came after his strong ally, former Orange Democratic Movement Kisii County branch chairman, Samuel Omwando was apprehended at his house in Nyanchwa.
