According to a notice issued by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) 20 families will be homeless in a few days to come.
NEMA told the owner of nine illegal buildings on Nairobi River riparian land to demolish them them or else it will do so at their expense.
“The structures are mainly toilets and temporary dwelling spaces,” Mamo Boru, Director General NEMA said.
The targeted buildings are said to eject effluent in Nairobi River. The Nairobi River cleanup is a collaboration of Nema and Nairobi Metropolitan Services.
The previous month, Nema flagged 148 polluters of Nairobi River for action to be taken against them.
