Kericho GK Prison Staffs, Inmates Test Positive For COVID-19

48 Kericho GK staff members and inmates have been confirmed positive after testing for COVID-19.

This was after a mass-testing activity was conducted by the Department of Health, Kericho county in which 75 samples were collected.

According the Kericho governor Paul Chepkwony, the decision was informed by the spike in virus infections recently.

He however said the 48 cases were in a stable condition and contact tracing was ongoing.

“Consequently, the department of Health and Prisons Management have put in place appropriate measure to curb the spread,” said” the county boss.

“Further, members of the public are cautioned no to visit the correctional facility until further notice,” he added. 

Since the pandemic broke, the county has recorded 2 facilities and 63 recoveries.
