Detectives from the DCI department, who acted on a tip-off stormed an apartment in Kasarani area Nairobi and arrested five men believed to be managing an electronic money fraud cartel on Wednesday night.
It is reported the police retrieved 1,720 Safaricom and 429 Airtel unregistered sim cards. Their 40 days had dawned and they couldn’t escape anymore.
The five were identified as Wilson Mugo Githinji, James Gitonga Maina, John Ngotho, Samuel Githinji Njenga Kariuki and Ian Mbogo Kamua.
“Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, DCI detectives based at Kasarani have today arrested five individuals within Pavab apartments on suspicion of engaging in electronic money fraud,” read the statement from DCI.
Also five laptops and mobile phones were recovered from the scene. The five suspects are awaiting to be arraigned upon completion of investigations.
