Former Uganda MP Dies At The Aga Khan Hospital

Sources revealed that Former Masaka District Woman Member of Parliament contestant Freda Mubanda Kasse died at the age of 76.

Freda Mubanda passed away at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, where she was receiving treatment. The Mp was was rushed to Nairobi last month upon developing breathing problems.

Freda who was the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer was allegedly first admitted to a private medical facility in Kampala after having a cough, and flu before she was referred to Nairobi after her condition deteriorated.

She was popularly referred to as Mama Masaka and Girl Mubanda, she represented the Masaka District in the 9th Parliament but lost to Mary Babirye Kabanda in the 2016 Democratic Party elections.

Kasse was also the current chairperson of the NRM Women’s League in Masaka. Mr. Umar Ssebulime, Masaka NRM Region’s administrative secretary, told the Uganda Daily Monitor news outlet that Freda’s death was a shock to them.
