A man is reported to have blown up a house with his family trapped inside in Nyakach, Kisumu County. Two people were injured in the incident including the man’s 8-year-old son.
Jonathan Koech, area Police boss, confirmed the incident stating that the explosion occurred the night after the man had a dispute with his wife.
The police boss said the suspect woke up in the middle of the night and went to set off the explosion in the adjacent room. The man had already fled by the time the explosion went off.
A neighbor was also injured in the incident and rushed to the hospital for treatment together with the boy.
The wife was able to record a statement with the police, stating that the husband had threatened her when they had a disagreement.
Bomb squad officers were deployed to the scene to determine the cause of the blast. Officers from the National Police Service have initiated a manhunt on the man and investigations are ongoing.
