Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho joined officers of the National Police Service in a night ambush on bars in violation of Covid-19 preventive measures.

A Mombasa reporter revealed that 10 bars had been closed during the operation, 236 people had been arrested for breaking the curfew and 339 others had also been nabbed for not wearing face masks.

Some of them escaped and could be seen jumping over the balconies and into the darkness, with Joho’s team in hot pursuit.

The raid was in accordance with the recent policy on the enforcement of the Covid-19 preventive measures at all costs.

Joho and his team had blocked all exits making it hard for those with vehicles to escape.

The governor stopped a white station-wagon by tapping on its bonnet forcing the driver to slam on the brakes.

He then forced the drivers out of their cars before moving them in a police truck parked across one of the exit roads.
