On Sunday, January 3, Governor Hassan Joho issued a letter criticizing Deputy President William Ruto of being the influence behind Coast-based politicians’ threats to abandon the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the dominant party in the region.

In a two-page letter, Joho, who is also the Deputy Leader of  ODM, claimed that a bunch of politicians who support the DP are threatening to form a new political party in the Coast Region.

He also called on the leaders making claims that they enjoyed the benefits of being members of the ODM and Jubilee, yet they continued to criticize the parties instead of quitting.

“A group of current and former members of parliament from the Coast has for some time now been going around the region talking of forming a new political party supposedly to champion the interests of residents. There is nothing new in this push.

“It is the usual case of people trying to earn a living through fraud and conmanship whose godfather Kenyans know only too well,” read the letter.
