A woman claiming to be the wife of the late Kakamega County Chief of Staff, Robert Sumbi camped at the Kakamega funeral home, on Saturday, November 7, to disrupt the burial proceedings of her husband.

Sussy Nandama Sumbi claimed that her co-wife Yvonne Tanui had a plan to secretly bury her husband.

She found the action to be unlawful since she had a court order in her possession that barred the burial proceedings from taking place.

She also alleged that Yvonne had set Sumbi’s family against her in order to exclude her from the share of his property. The widow believed that her 20-year marriage to Sumbi was officially recognized by law.

She alleged that her husband’s official documents went missing mysteriously after he succumbed to Covid-19 and demanded Yvonne to restore them, failure to which legal action would be taken.

“His Identification Cards, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, logbook, title deeds and his car all went missing. That’s why today I have camped here at the funeral home to ensure that justice is done,” she said.
