KDF Receives Vehicles Worth Ksh440 Million From US

According to the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) report on 16 September, Kenya received 23 military and logistics vehicles.

The assets included 15 Mack trucks, two Mack tow trucks and eight mounted Humvees to support KDF combat and logistics operations.

The vehicles were received by Major General Joseph Kivunzi, head of the Western Command of the Kenya Army

KDF soldiers will also be instructed on how to use and operate the equipment.

Kenya has supplied the African Union Mission in Somalia ( AMISOM) with more than 4,000 soldiers, which is scheduled to end its operations in December 2021.

Kenyan and regional soldiers are trained in different forms of explosives such as missiles, bombs, rockets, and landmines.

The British Peace Support Team (Africa) and KDF have trained over 1,700 military and police personnel from 22 countries in the identification and disarmament of IEDs since 2016.

In support of its task against Al-Shabaab extremists along the Somali border, the USA has provided the KDF with over Ksh1 billion in equipment and training since 2018 . Since 2011, Kenya has aimed to root out extremism along the shared border.
