Kenya Union Of Journalism Sue Mediamax For Deposing Workers Via Text

The Kenya Union of Journalism (KUJ) has sued Mediamax Company for laying off its employees via a text.

In the month of May and June a lot of journalist were laid off including Nancy Onyancha and Job Mwaura.

The union demands the journalists be compensated for unjustified firing which contravened the constitution.

It is also said the Kenyatta family-owned media house withheld the ex-employees’ April, May and June salaries.

An Advocate of the High court placed the petition before Justice Stephen Radido. Radido directed the application be served upon the DSM placed-based media house and the case will be mentioned on 24 August.

The Union demands Media Max to immediately release  the salary arrears of the mentioned months to the ex-employees plus one-month remuneration pending the hearing and termination of the case.
