Kenya’s COVID-19 cases rise to 81

The total number of Coronavirus cases in Kenya has risen to 81. The Ministry of Health has announced 22 more cases of the virus in Kenya.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in the past 24 hours, the country had tested 300 people, the largest number ever. Out of the 22, 13 are male and nine female.

CS Kagwe said 21 were already in quarantine, adding that they were fortunate to have captured the cases early enough.

Tracing of contacts of the 81 patients is ongoing.

The Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital, which now has a bed-capacity of 300, will boost response services offered at the Mbagathi Hospital isolation centre.

1000 more health workers are to be hired to help curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The CAS said efforts to acquire more protective gears are being scaled up despite there being a global shortage.

According to her, the Government is engaging local manufacturers to plan for adequate kits.
