Kibera MP aspirant Rosemary Odinga against Kibera hooliganism

Raila Odinga’s daughter Rosemary has said she was not to blame for the violence that took place in Kibera.

The residents torched down clinics and sanitary facilities put up by the National Youth Service NYS and vandalized water tanks and pipes, in what is linked to war of words between facing the Devolution CS Ann Waiguru and CORD leader Raila Odinga.

Police were forced to watch from a distance as the youths blocked major roads leading to the slum. They could also be heard chanting anti-government slogans.

Rosemary, while visiting the area Tuesday, stated that she was not behind the violence and urged residents to desist from causing mayhem.

” I urge residents to cam down and not cause damage to public facilities,” she said.

Rosemary is said to be seeking to run for the Kibra Parliamentary seat come the 2017 elections and has been doing small campaigns in the area in recent weeks.

The scenes at night followed Monday’s street demonstrations by a group that appeared to support the CS while castigating CORD leader Raila Odinga who has been criticising Waiguru over corruption at the NYS.

Raila had called on Waiguru to resign over massive corruption at the NYS, totalling to KES 826 million, which Waiguru had claimed she actually saved the organization from losing.
