The Law Society Of Kenya (LSK) has castigated a list of 24 lawyers including Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka who were uplifted to the rank of Senior Counsel by the president.
Nelson Havi, LSK President said members had conveyed dissatisfaction in the manner which selection committee was formed.
However, the 24 lawyers who were affected by the cancellation moved to court to counter the move of Nelson Havi resulting in stand-off.
High Court Judge, Pauline Nyamweya issued temporary orders barring withdrawal of the names until the matter was heard and clear decision made.
According to LSK, the time Uhuru upraised the 24 lawyers, there was a disagreement yet to be resolved hence the president acted with “impunity”.
In a statement issued through the LSK twitter handle;
“President Uhuru Kenyatta acted with impunity in conferring rank of senior Counsel on the 24 advocates. The dispute on their recommendation for conferment is still pending in court. we will abide by the outcome of the mediation that ensured there from whose report is expcted soon,” read the statement.
