Man Dies After Lorry Full Of Football Fans Overturns In Kibera

On Sunday, December 20, a lorry full of fans overturned in Kibera.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the driver was speeding and the fans were hanging loose while celebrating the win. One fan died on the spot after he was crushed by the truck.

Ahmed Omar, the deceased, was a fan of one of the teams, Gogo FC, which had won the final match at the Kriss Darling Cup. Other fans were rushed to hospital for treatment. Gogo FC had defeated Ping FC from Dagoreeti 2-1 to win the cup.

On the same day. A bus full of fans also overturned in Sagana, Kirinyaga County. One of the passengers claimed that the bus was shot down by police at a nearby roadblock.

“The driver failed to stop after he was flagged down by police. He lost control while rushing to make a turn at the junction that leads to Murang’a County. 

“Maybe they thought the driver was ferrying drugs,” claimed the passenger.
