Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) director-general Mohammed Badi has said that Public Service Vehicles will be unable to enter the Central Boarding District in Nairobi come November. This is a move that Badi argued will help decongest the city.

This has brought a lot of complains from matatu investors with many arguing that it seems like the government is trying to compete with them.

“Members of the public will obviously prefer using the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) as soon as they are implemented because of the convenience that it will bring. We feel like the government is largely competing with us,” Evans Somba, LA Trans Sacco chairman said.

But Mbadi has come out to debunk that government wants to take over the matatu industry claiming that they actually want them to be partakers in it.

If the plan is implemented, the drop off terminals will be as follows: those coming from the Thika highway will have their drop off at either Ngara or Parklands, those using Mombasa road will be dropped off at the Railways golf club, those using Waiyaki way will be dropped of at the Globe roundabout and the ones using Ladhies roads and Jogoo road will be dropped at Muthurwa.
