Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been rushed to hospital ahead of his court arraignment at Kiambu Law Courts on whether he will be released on bail.
On Tuesday morning, John Khaminwa, Sonko’s lawyer, said Sonko was admitted at the Nairobi Hospital.
He did not disclose the details of the illness. However, other sources claimed that the former Nairobi Governor had developed stomach complications.
Sonko is scheduled to be arraigned at the Kahawa West Law Courts in Kamiti later today, Tuesday, January 9, to answer to terror-related charges. DCI claimed that he was financing the purchase of firearms and was a leader of a secret militant group.
Last week, a Kiambu court ruled that Sonko be detained for five more days after an officer from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) swore an affidavit accusing Sonko of having terror links, hence seeking 30 days to detain him pending investigations.
