On Tuesday 9, November, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was summoned by the Senate Health Committee to appear before them in person after sending his personal secretary along with a team from his office to attend the Tuesday meeting on his behalf.
Governor Sonko has been asked to face the committee to answer questions on the transfer of the health docket to Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).
Michael Mbito, Trans Nzoia Senator who leads the committee, declined Sonko’s appointment of his personal secretary.
Mbito sent the team away and asked them to inform Governor Sonko that he is required to appear before the Committee on Monday, 16 November 2020 at 11 a.m.
Sonko was further warned that if he fails to appear, the committee will make a decision solely based on the submissions by Sonko’s counterpart at NMS Mohamed Badi.
