Nurse Who Gave Birth While In ICU Succumbs To COVID-19.

Marian Awour, a nurse in Homabay who gave birth on Friday July 24 while in ICU fighting for her life died on Sunday August 2.

It is reported she had earlier been admitted at Homabay County Hospital  after developing flu-like symptoms but upon getting tested, it turned out that she was COVID-19 negative on July 17.

Marian later developed difficulties in breathing which resulted to her transfer to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, and admitted in ICU. She was tested again for COVID-19 and the results turned she was positive.

According to the National Nurses Association, the 32-year-old fallen medic’s condition worsened on Sunday 2 August where she breathed last at 4pm losing the battle.

“Unfortunately her condition worsened,and today (Sunday) 4pm she passed away from COVID-19 complications leaving behind her baby who is slightly over a week old,” read part of the statement.

It is said she had signed a consent form to undergo a caesarian  and managed to deliver a bouncing baby boy.

May her soul rest in peace.
