Several changes have been made in Nairobi since Coast Regional Commander Yakub Rashid relocated to Nairobi in August 2020. A month after his appointment, almost all of the officers had transferred from Kilimani Station to a reshuffle he said was intended to improve operations.

In the new changes, Richard Muguai, who worked at Gigiri Station, was transferred to the Police Headquarters, the Vigilance House, and appointed as Deputy Chief Transport Officer.

Isaac Thuranira,  Kayole Police Division boss, was moved to Kirinyaga with Philip Wambugu taking his previous position.

Dagoretti Sub-Country Commander Issa Mohamed was transferred to Machakos, where he will now serve as County Commander taking over from Karanja Muiruri who was earlier promoted to Nyanza Regional Police Commander.

Francis Wahome will replace Mohammed as the new Dagoretti Police Chief.

Police Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai defended the changes in the service, saying that they had been informed by various factors.

“The National Police Service (NPS) strictly removes officers who have served in operation areas after three to four years. A few may take slightly longer based on their professionalism like drivers and signalers,” stated Mutyambai.
