The mobile loan platform, offered by Safaricom has left majority of the youths in debt trap. In the recent poll released, it indicated how many of the youths in the project cannot be paid their dues.
The challenges comes when they are to be paid as some people want to evade paying the loan, they tend to register with different cell phone numbers.
“Some used IDs that belong to other family members . The challenge is that details do not match their ID numbers, resulting in pay delay,” reads a report by the National Assembly Committee on Labour and Social services.
It is claimed the Kazi mtaani youths are paid a weekly stipend of sh 1,000.
