Nandi County police initiated a manhunt for the Olympic gold medalist, Conseslus Kipruto, for allegedly eloping with a Form 2 student.
The girl’s parents filed a report at Mosoriot Police Station saying the girl had been missing for three days, and on her return, she refused to say where she had been.
“We are looking for an athlete whose whereabouts remain unknown. Upon arresting the suspect, we shall record his statement and thereafter conclude investigations into the defilement allegations,” Chesumei OCPD Bosita Omukolongolo stated.
The student was asked to come clean after the phone records revealed she was in frequent touch with the Steeplechase Champion.
The parents believed their daughter had been defiled and they wanted the police to investigate the matter urgently. The girl was taken to the hospital for examination.
