Police Officers in Rachuonyo South sub-county have launched an investigation into the death of Constable Godfrey Odhiambo who drowned in River Awach while swimming.
The 30-year-old police who was attached to Kosele Police station met his death while in his refreshing moments in the river near Riwo area.
He is said to be an often swimmer in River Awach. The heartbreaking incident happened on 6 August with reports showing he died instantly after drowning deep into the waters.
Police Commander in Homabay county said the detectives from (DCI) have taken to investigate the incident to ascertain how Godfrey met his untimely death.
It’s however said the late officer was overpowered by strong waves hence drowning. His body was taken to Rachuonyo sub-county for postmortem.
