President Uhuru has decided to send all members of his cabinet and their secretaries on a 11-day leave starting Monday, August 17 2020.
Principal secretaries and chief administrative are also directed to proceed on a compulsory leave with notices indicating the Cabinet will convene its next meeting 3rd of September.
Joseph Kinyua, head of Public Service however said, Cabinet members are not exempted from visiting sites to oversee progress of the ongoing projects.
“During the working recess, members of the cabinet will still be required to undertake ministerial portfolio responsibilities and to attend any presidential engagements arising from or ancillary to their ministerial mandate,” Kinyua stated.
He also stated members of both cabinet and technical committees are allowed to hold any official engagements unless directed by the president in case of emergency
