David Murathe, the Jubilee Vice Chairman recently stated Raila will be a one term president who will act as a transition to the younger generation to take leadership in 2027.
“We think it’s time Kenyans rewarded the years of struggle of Raila Amollo Odinga. They owe it to him. It’s like Mandela, and 2022 will be a Mandela Moment. And we would also like to tell him (Raila) to be a transitional president who will then nurture the young generation to take over in 2027,” Murathe Stated in an interview.
According to Raila Odinga, while speaking to the Standard, he responded to Murathe saying, “President Kenyatta and I have said we don’t want to talk about 2022. We want to come up with reforms that will make it possible for this country to transition.”
“We don’t want to pick leadership. We want to create a conducive environment so that Kenyans can get proper leadership. There are limits to abusive power, and that is what BBI is aimed at achieving,” Raila added.
This comes at a time when the opposition leader Raila, is pushing for a referendum so they can vote in for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that is aimed at limiting abusive power according to Raila.
