Nairobi County has received a new police commander, Rashid Yakub in the mini shuffle by the National Police on Saturday 1 August 2020.

The changes were announced by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua where Rashid took over from Philip Ndolo.

Rashid Yakub was the Police commander of Mombasa County and was replaced by Gabriel Musau, the Deputy Commandant of Kiganjo Police Training College.

Philip Ndolo was then transferred to Kiganjo Police Training College as the new Deputy Commandant.

The reshuffle came at a time when the former Nairobi Police Commander Ndolo, complained of harassment in the enforcement of COVID-19 directives given by the government. It also came when chaos are being witnessed at City Hall from the MCAs.

Early this year Rashid Yakub accused Governor Sonko of assault during an arrest made in Voi where Sonko was arrested in connection to irregular award of sh 300M contract but later withdrew the charges against him.
