Award winning gospel singer Dennis Mwangi aka Papa Dennis is dead. His death was announced on social media by other celebrities at around midnight of 8th February 2020.

His body was found dumped a few meters from his house in Ngara. The cause of his death has not yet been established but conflicting reports suggest that he was either hit by a speeding vehicle or jumped off a 7th floor building in N’gara.

Some other Witnesses say that Papa was in a studio session at Nairobi Records owned by Mash Mjukuu, when he stormed out of the room and fell from the 7th floor and died immediately.

“Sad but it’s true,” said Daddy Owen.

Daddy Owen went on to say, he rushed to the scene immediately after being tagged on twitter.

“It seems like someone threw him over a building or maybe he committed suicide. There is a studio nearby Nairobi Records but we are not certain what happened,” he added.

Unconfirmed sources suggest that Papa Dennis was battling depression after parting ways with his former management Maliza Umaskini that is run by Sadat Muhindi. The flashy lifestyle was no more and Papa had gone back to a simple lifestyle. He lived in Ngara.

Who is Papa Dennis?

Papa Dennis born Dennis Mwangi was raised in Matunda, Kakamega county in a very humble background. He is a twin brother to Simon Mwangi, and was a one time member of praise and worship in church.

Losing his mother at a tender age, Papa and his twin brother were forced to struggle as much to fend for themselves.

“I started from humble beginnings, singing in church as a member of the praise and worship team. I wanted to pursue music from an early age but my dreams were hindered by the death of my mother, who was taking care of me and my twin brother. After her death, in 2006, our lives became miserable and I was forced to do odd jobs just to make a living while also trying to save for my music,” he told a local daily in 2018.

Willis Raburu still mourns his daughter.
