The senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka on Thursday 17 September, announced the 12-member committee formed to find a solution into the revenue stalemate had finally reached a consensus.
The formula is set to move to the senate plenary this afternoon for debate and possible adoption.
“We, the undersigned members of the committee established to consider the matter of the third basis for allocating among the counties, the share of national revenue, do hereby append our signatures to adopt the report,” part of the resolution read.
The Senate Business Committee is expected to articulate on how the sh 366.5 billion will be shared among the counties in the next financial year.
And if the formula will be adopted, the chapter of the longest running issue in the senate will finally close.
The revenue stalemate since July 2020 had seen the house almost splitting with most counties’ services being halted due to lack of funding.
