A police officer in Malava shopping Centre, Kakamega North Sub-county collapsed and died moments after slapping a suspect.
Constable Remko, who had been recently transferred from Kabras police Station in Kakamega county to Kongit police station in Bungoma county was from picking his transfer letter.
He then later in the evening went to Malava trading center where he bought miraa and started chewing at an isolated area.
It is at this point that a male stranger joined him but seemed suspicious. The officer then asked why he had come to join him and almost immediately served his cheek with two slaps.
The man thereafter walked away, telling the officer he would report the matter the following day at Kabras police station.
Just minutes later, the officer collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body was taken to Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
