Residents of Lang’ata were shoked after a warthog stormed into a mini-supermarket in the area.

The wild animal caused a commotion as it ran around, ploughing through the items and knocking them off the counters. The incident forced shoppers to stop their activities to catch a glimpse of the animal while others were running for safety.

The shoppers did not harm the animal, but instead called Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) officers to take it away safely.

Officers injected the animal with a tranquilizer before taking it to the waiting pick-up, while frightened shoppers took videos and photos of the rescue. The warthog was later released into the forest.

Incidents of wild animals strolling into residential areas occur especially in areas surrounding the Nairobi National Park.

In November 2019, a hyena was spotted walking past a residential area in Lang’ata, prompting the KWS to take action.
