An alleged murderer was sentenced to 15 years in prison after the hair strands of his murdered girlfriend linked him to her death.
Judge Joel Ngugi ruled that the hair strands showed that Gitau attacked his lover with whom they shared a house in Nakuru County.
“The wig pointed to the fact that the assault happened inside the house. Only the accused person had the opportunity to cause the injuries to the deceased as they were only two in the house,” judge Ngugi stated.
The hair strands that came from the wig that the deceased was wearing at the time of her murder were discovered near her body, and the convict is said to have sought to cover the evidence by washing her clothes.
The Judge argued that the hair proved that Gitau had attacked his lover and that they were only two in the house at the time of the incident.
