George Kori, a journalist who worked with K24 and Mediamax as a whole, was all over the news yesterday after he was found hanging on a tree. The journalist who had been based in Nakuru, Molo area had gone missing a few days prior.
Its not clear as to what may have lead to his depression but it is said that he was severely depressed and under going a bad time with his family. He turned to alcohol as most people end up doing during times of stress and was later heard hanging from a tree near his family house in elburgon.
“Today, our hearts are heavy as we lose a valuable team member and hardworking journalist and as an organization, we wish to reiterate our support for his family and friends as they embark on funeral arrangements,
“The circumstances around his death also call for a deeper awareness and introspection surrounding matters mental health, and we vow to play a more enhanced role in mental health awareness in the country as a tribute to him,” read a part of the statement released by the Mediamax CEO, Ken Ngaruiya on Sunday 24th.
This comes after on 21st May, there was an announcement released by Mediamax on the reorganization of the staff that would see some of the employees loose their jobs. Seven months before, Mediamax had let go of 160 of their employees.
