Two men identified as Dennis Nyakundi and Victor Onsare were on Wednesday evening apprehended over impersonation.
The two are said to have impersonated DCI officers and attempted to extort Kasipul MP, Charles Ongondo.
They were handcuffed at a Nairobi Hotel where they had summoned the MP via social media.
“They had forged notice compelling him to present himself at DCI headquarters questioning on an undisclosed matter,” said boss Kinoti.
It is said the two later made a private call alerting the lawmaker on the rescheduled appearance at the DCI offices to a later date, but asked him to meet them at a hotel for a talk.
It is then that the politicians got suspicious and alerted the DCI parliament where a trap was set and the two apprehended.
The two are in custody as investigation are ongoing and will be arraigned in court to face charges.
