Lawyer Ahmednasir alias Grand Mullah has sued a woman identified as Njeri Thorne for making false publication with intentions to paint his reputation.
In a series of tweets made in July by Njeri, it is alleged she was targeting Grand Mullah. He linked the lawyer to money laundering and piracy.
“Folk like Ahmednasir should not be commenting on matters of Kenya. He is responsible for laundering pirate money bringing it in and distorting our economy. He also big caliphate dute and has worked against KE with terrorists,” she tweeted.
In another tweet on July 31Â she said the law firm linked with plaintiff had been acting as go-between ransom negotiations on behalf of Somali pirate who hijacked ships in gulf of Aden.
“The glamorous building acts as the first community Bank headquarters which, ironically, was founded by Ahmednasir Abdullahi from suspected proceeds of piracy ransom paid off by desperate shipping companies whose vessels were seized by ruthless Somali pirate off the Gulf of Aden,” she added the tweet.
In the case which was certified as urgent Ahmednasir rejected involvement in illegal trade.
“The plantiff has no involvement whatsoever in crime, piracy, money laundering or any criminal activity; nor has he ever been investigated for, charged or convicted of any offence in that regard,” argued Ombati.
A pending hearing was set on 25 August.
Njeri maintained she will defend her statement as truths in fullness of time without intimidation.
