68 students and 5 teachers tested positive for Covid-19 at Bahati Girls Secondary School in Nakuru County.

Kariuki Gichuki, Nakuru County Health CEC announced the outbreak in a press sratement on Thursday, 5 November 2020.

The patients were immediately placed under mandatory isolation. 115 other students were further placed under quarantine as contact tracing continued.

“One student who tested positive for Covid-19 developed some complications and is being attended to at the Nakuru PGH Covid-19 Isolation and Management Centre,” Gichuki stated.

The CEC assured the public that the health department is monitoring the condition of the students and teachers who are in isolation at the institution.

He added that a team from the Health Department in the county has been conducting prevention and management for learning institution across the county of Nakuru, targeting teachers, subordinate staff and students.

Covid-19 cases have been on the rise across the country, with schools being among the most affected.
