Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) officers arrested two foreigners over a rise in theft cases reported in Karuri, Kiambu County.

After further interrogation, the two foreigners led the officers to a phone repair shop in Eastleigh estate, Nairobi, where the police managed to recover stolen items.

Four more suspects, believed to be part of the gang were also detained as they wait for arraignment in court. The recovered items were held as exhibits.

Various plots are used by robbers to snatch cell phones and personal belongings from Kenyans, either in public service vehicles or on the streets.

The robbers later sell these stolen items as second-hand on popular online-retail websites to unsuspecting customers.

The National Police Service asked Kenyans who had lost phones, laptops and cameras in the recent past to go to the Nairobi Regional Police Headquarters and identify their items.
