The family of late Dr. Stephen Mogusu has requested Kenyans to give them privacy as they mourn the death of their Kin.

Stephen Mogusu, a doctor who worked in Machakos County under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) pilot program, succumbed to Covid-19 on Monday, December 7.

On a visit to the KU Referral Hospital, where Mogusu was admitted, his sister revealed that the deceased’s cell phone had been ringing continuously since his death.

Mogusu’s family has since requested the government to prioritize the safety and health of doctors on the frontline in the battle against Covid-19.

“It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that those in the frontline get personal protective equipment (PPEs). We are losing those who should be helping us in the battle against the virus,”  Mogusu’s father, Naftal Ogweno, lamented.

Mogusu’s mother, Agnes Mogusu, mourned the deceased as a hard-working and modest young man.

“I had hope in him. I can only imagine the pain he underwent at the hospital bed,” she said.
