Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has condemned police intimidation following the political chaos that erupted during the tallying of votes at Mangú High School tallying centre.

Juja residents went to the ballot on Tuesday May 18, to vote for a new MP in a race pitting Jubilee Party’s Susan Njeri Waititu against MP Moses Kuria’s Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP)’s George Koimburi and nine other candidates.

By the time the chaos erupted, PEP’s Koimburi had garnered over 50% of the votes while Waititu had less than 30%.

Taking to Social media,  Kuria said he was among those stuck at the tallying centre, adding he was not sure when they left the centre.

“This tragic story of Tuesday, May 18 2021, will require a lot of energy to tell. For now, all we can say is at this hour, 3.42am on Wednesday, May 19 2021, we are still stuck at the Mangu High School. We are not sure when we will leave this centre,” Kuria posted.

He also revealed he and his supporters escaped death by a whisker following the chaos.

“That we escaped death by a whisker last evening is the most vivid proof that God is indeed still on the throne. We need your prayers above all else,” he added.

However a video that has since gone viral showed Kiambu governor Nyoro James throwing bitter words at IEBC claiming he could not allow his party Jubilee be defeated.
