Good news to the public Service Vehicle (PSV) sector in Kenya as the government allows them to increase the number of passengers onboard.

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said a 14 seater van will now be allowed to carry 10 passengers including the driver as opposed to the 8 passengers they previously carried.

The 33 and 51-seater bus will be allowed to carry 18 and 30 passengers respectively. The boda bodas and Tuktuks will still carry one passenger at a time.
The 5 seater cars and cabs will be allowed to carry 3 Passengers while a 7 seater car will be allowed to carry 5 passengers at a time.
Earlier on the government gave directives to matatu drivers to carry less passengers as away of social distancing to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.
This comes as good news and relief to travelers as they hope hiked fares will go down.
