The citizens of Kaswanga in Rusinga Island have protested against the conversion of level-four hospital into an isolation center for COVID-19 patients.
County government of Homa Bay had shutdown Tom Mboya level 4 hospital citing they wanted it to run as an isolation center to accommodate the rising cases of COVID-19 patients in the county.
The residents are now against it claiming they were not involved in the decisions and it would complicate the whole process of seeking medical services. They said the hospital should have been divided into two sections to accommodate both.
It’s said the county government transferred hospital facilities and equipment to other hospitals to ease the renovation process. The residents were urged to seek medical care at Mbita, Sindo and Kirindo.
