On Wednesday night, October 21, Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina was involved in a road accident along Kericho-Leiten Highway.
Karungu Kamau, the Kericho County Commissioner, confirmed the incident and stated that the Cabinet Secretary escaped unhurt.
“No one was injured in the accident and the CS is safe,” stated Karungu .
It was reported that the CS was heading home when a boda boda rider hit her vehicle from behind at around 9 pm.
CS Betty Maina’s accident comes shortly after the Lands Cabinet Secretary, Farida Karoney’s father died in an accident involving a boda boda.
The Daily Nation reported that CS Betty Maina had travelled to the South Rift region to inspect government projects.
A report released by NTSA, confirmed that motorcyclists and pillion passengers deaths increased by 44.94% and 19.44% respectively. 2,689 persons had lost their lives between January 1 and September 30, 2020, compared to the same period last year where 2,655 lives were lost which translates to an increase of 1.3%.
