Kisii “Dead” Man Resurrects after 40 years of His Disappearance

A 60-year-old man has surprised his villagers and family members at Boutia village in Kisii county after resurfacing out of the blue.

Peter Mogaka  Omwoyo, who left his home in 1980 was reported dead 10 years later and buried in Tanzania.

However when Mogaka’s father died, a messenger was sent to his family to inform them to come for the burial but none showed up. This ascertained that indeed Peter was no more.

Recently the mother to the ‘deceased’ passed away and villagers urged the family members to once again send a message to the man’s children to come for the burial.

Shock on the messengers when they found Mogaka who had been presumed dead busy cleaning his compound.

It is said he received them happily. On hearing his mother’s demise, he accompanied the messengers to come home and mourn her mother.

However instead of mourning, it turned into a unifying ceremony as he opened up on why he stayed away from the family for the last four decades.

After interrogations it was realised that the messenger who was his younger brother brought some false news claiming he was dead.

“It is sad my brother reported wrongly that they had buried me, I forgive him, now I am here alive,” he said.
