Man Drowns in An Attempt to Save Sister

Waciuri Nderitu, a 30 year man drowned while trying to save his sister after she jumped into the Kiriti Dam in Gatundia, Laikipia County.

The sister allegedly jumped to her death after she got into an argument with her mother over a phone that she had been forbidden to use.

In an effort to save his sister, Waciuri is said to have jumped right into the dam, but also drowned.

Area County Commissioner Hezron Nyamberi reported the incident that the high school student had left behind a suicide note.

“She jumped into the nearby dam, and her elder brother’s attempts to save her were vain as he drowned,” Nyamberi said.

WHO reports that 800,000 people kill themselves worldwide. Though more surprising is the fact that suicide has been reported as the second leading cause of death among 15-to 29-year-olds.

So many people are battling depression during this COVID 19 pandemic, making the cases of suicide to rise.
