A herder was left wounded after bandits attacked Yatya Village in Baringo North sub-county and made away with his 40 goats at the wee hours on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old Jeremiah Cheptoo was then rushed ti Kabarnet county referral hospital where an X-ray conducted showed three bullets were clogged in his left shoulder, hand and thigh.

“I was asleep at the time when unknown number of bandit struck around 3 am and entered my goat shed. When I tried to shout for help, one opened firearm and shot me three times,” Jeremiah narrated.

It is reported he collapsed as the bandits drove all his goats towards Silale, Tiaty sub-county.

His brother, Stephen Cheptoo heard him scream for help and came to his aid. “I called police who arrived immediately and I escorted him to hospital,” he said.

The family has appealed to well-wishers to help in footing his hospital bill claiming they had nothing to sell to pay the bill.

Jeremiah also urged police officers to help pursue and retrieve his stolen goats. The area is said to be prone to bandits and people have been forced to stay outside overnight guarding their animals.
