Kiambu county governor James Nyoro has fired 48 municipal board members over lack of required education.
The laid off members are said to be in committees of projects funded by the World Bank and they are not qualified for the job.
It’s said the members were appointed by former governor Ferdinand Waititu. While confirming the affected members have been relieved of their duties, he stated their appointments were made against the law.
“Most of them had not met qualifications,” he said. There were concerns from World Bank as most members could not understand or interpret policy issues.
After investigations, it was realized their level of education was the main problem as most of them had no secondary education.
