Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri on Saturday, February 20 held a rally shortly after being released.

The lawmakers and their supporters engaged in running battles with police officers who had barricade the venue.

The police officers lobbed teargas canisters at the politicians who ran for protection.They changed the venue of the meeting after their encounter with the police.

While addressing at the rally, the Nakuru senator stated the police would not deter them from campaigning for their candidate.

The two lawmakers had been briefly detained shortly after her planned meeting was disrupted by police who were deployed to the venue.

“Kenya is not a police state.Why are others allowed to hold their meetings but we are being disrupted. We demand equal treatment,” she said.
