A trailer lost control and rammed into a bodaboda shade at St Joseph’s primary school’s junction in Webuye on the Malaba-Eldoret highway, killing two people on the spot.

The two women who died were taking shelter from the rain at the boda boda stall.

Around eight bodaboda riders narrowly escaped death when they ducked after seeing the trailer approach.

According to Valerian Obore, Bungoma East Police Chief, the accident happened after a lorry traveling from Malaba to Eldoret lost control and veered off the road before crashing into the bodaboda shade.

The lorry also destroyed the adjacent St. Joseph’s Catholic Church’s wall.

According to Mr. Obore, the trailer’s driver was arrested, and is assisting police with their investigations.

Police took the bodies to Webuye County Hospital morgue.
